Langston Hughes High School3

Fairburn, GA | Fulton County

March 12, 2015

For the 2014-15 school year alone, Langston Hughes High School has been on the news at least 10 times for SOMETHING BAD. Literally, if you look up "Langston Hughes High" in Google, you will see a result that says someone was shot at a football game. There was also a bomb threat. There was a shootout threat. There was a whole day entirely consumed of gang fights. Then there was some Instagram thing when people would take pictures of others and post them, saying a lot of dirty things about them. And now I am hearing something about "turn up wednesdays" or some foolishness like that. With all that being said, there are just about 4 officers in the school. Not to mention that we are extremely low on staff. Many of the teachers want to leave. Now the principal is gone because he had a promotion. Now administrators are enforcing strict rules about dress code, especially on girls. Sweatpants aren't even allowed! It is 10 DAYS suspension for violating it! Parents can't afford to just go buy new clothes in the middle of the school year, which you can tell by the fact that we have a 72% financially challenged rate among parents here. Something in this must be illegal.

Clean and caring school for the 2013-23014 year since the new principal. The teachers are more engaged in he kids learning and the counselor staff is wonderful in making sure that students are on track to graduating on time and are attending classes that are important to entering a high quality college or university. I nephew graduated from this school and my daughter now attends a junior. Left Fayette county school system to come here and I must say not too much of a difference in learning at least for my child and I am very pleased.

Langston Hughes high is the best high school in the south fulton area. their schools campus is also the largest of south fulton. The students here can be a bit disobedient but overall the school is a great school. only thing that langston hughes lacks of is clubs for students to get involved in.

Like any school, there are good teachers and staff, but maybe the problem is not so much the faculty as it is the students. Most of the students have very bad behaviors, are disrespectful and disobedient to adults. Their language and actions are also filthy. The problem of bullying is a learned behavior which is used to hide deep rooted problems from their homes or family lives. People were told to not use drugs before or when pregnant, it will show up @ some point or time. Teachers can only teach when children are willing to learn, which is why the Bible should have never been taken out of schools, because HE made us and HE knows how to teach us and HIS Word brigns correction. Also there are too many movies with a rating above PG being shown in some classrooms. Children if not taught differently at home act on or become what they see through subliminal messages in movies. I must admit I have seen parents saved and unsaved whom act no better than their children. Is it fair to always put all the blame on all teachers and faculties in schools? A wicked society produces wickedness.

As a freshman this year, I will have to say the school is pretty good. The school clubs are cool and some of the teachers don't really teach, but it's a good school overall.
